Zermatt’s location at the foot of the Matterhorn and in the middle of a large hiking and skiing region makes it one of the most attractive holiday villages in the world. The ski area includes 54 cable cars and lifts and 360 km of slopes. The „Matterhorn glacier paradise“ area is the largest and highest summer ski area in Europe. Numerous national ski teams train here in the summer.

In winter, the snow-sure ski area offers 360km of slopes in three varied ski regions: Sunnegga-Rothorn, Gornergrat-Stockhorn and Schwarzsee as well as Matterhorn glacier paradise. Snowboarders and freestylers can practice in the Zermatt Snowpark, where Olympic contenders also train. From the Matterhorn glacier paradise / Theodul Pass, a transition to the Italian ski area of Breuil-Cervinia and Valtournenche is possible.

The highest viewpoint in Europe at 3883m, which can be reached by cable car, also offers a fascinating panoramic view of the Matterhorn (4478m) and the peaks of the Swiss, Italian and French Alps. 15 meters below the surface of the ice, the Glacier Palace can be admired. Six ski lifts and an aerial cableway provide access to the Matterhorn glacier paradise, the highest summer ski area in the Alps on the Theodul Glacier.
